Perspectives from Women in Elected Offices

Saturday, October 26, 2024 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Please join us for AAUW’s first program of the year. We will host a panel of women who will share their experiences as elected officials. To date, Mayors Sandy Staples of Amador City, Claire Gunselman of Sutter Creek and Marianne Akerland of Plymouth have accepted our invitation to participate. Learn about how they became interested in running for office and their perspectives on serving the community. Whether you are interested in running for office, interested in the workings of local government, or learning more about the women who are representing their communities, this should be an interesting discussion. AAUW member, Katie Scott, will moderate the event, held at the Giles Turner Performing Arts Center on the Amador High School campus, 330 Spanish Street, Sutter Creek. The Performing Arts Center is on the north side of the campus across the road from Sutter Creek Elementary School. This event is being held at Amador High School to encourage high school students to attend and consider serving in elected offices in the future.
