Amador- El Dodorado Forest Forum

Monday, November 28, 2022 (5:30 PM - 8:00 PM) (PST)

Description

Authors Peter Stine, Project Manager, The Climate and Wildfire Institute, and Steve Ostoja, Director of the USDA California Climate Hub will be introducing The Forest Management Handbook for Small-Parcel Landowners at the next meeting of the Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum on Monday, November 28th. This handbook was published in December of 2021 and printed copies will be available at the meeting. Managing forested lands can be a difficult task for small parcel landowners in California due to a variety of technical, legal, and operational challenges. However, forest lands in the Sierra and Cascades need management attention due to the significant changes in forest conditions over the last 100 years. The Forest Management Handbook for Small Parcel Landowners in the Sierra Nevada and Southern Cascades and its attending worksheets will help landowners build a “California Cooperative Forest Management Plan”. This management plan template meets the requirements for grants and other provisions available to small parcel landowners. The plan will help determine what management action(s) are appropriate for the land, how to obtain technical and financial support, and what, if any, permits may be necessary. The meeting will be in the banquet room at Teresa’s Place, 1235 Jackson Gate Road in Jackson, on Monday, November 28th. Social Hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m., and the presentation will start at 7 p.m. To reserve a space for dinner contact Diane Dealey Neill at dianedealeyneill@gmail.com or (530) 417-1960 by Friday, November 25th at 5 p.m. A complete Chicken Marsala dinner, including soup, salad, bread and butter, and coffee or tea will be served for $25 per person, tax and tip included. Beer and wine are available for purchase. Raffle tickets to support the Forest Forum may be purchased at the door. The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forest educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues in the two-county area. The Forum meets once a month in fall, winter, and spring months at various locations in the two-county area. The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in forestry.
