Plasse's Meadow Group

Ramon Pierre Plasse emigrated from Lyon, France to San Francisco via the Cape Horn in the early 1850's to become founder of the Plasse Ranch in Jackson and the summer ranch range at Silver Lake. Ramon operated a trading post on the Carson Emigrant Trail from 1852 to 1860.

Louise Ratrou arrived with her family in 1860 from Paris, France via the Isthmus of Panama route. She came to Jackson to meet her father already living in Jackson. Louise met Ramon Pierre at a dance given by the large French community in Jackson.

165 years later, Plasse's Resort is recognized as one of the oldest campgrounds in the United States by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
