Amador County Animal Response Team

The ACART mission is to provide emergency assistance to Amador County residents and their domestic animals by providing animal shelter and care for those animals when their owners are forced to evacuate their homes as a result of a declared disaster, and to educate the public on disaster preparedness.

Although ACART operates under the direction of the County Office of Emergency Services and the County Animal Control Director, we are not funded as part of the county budget and remain a completely volunteer organization dependent on small grants and the generosity of concerned citizens.

ACART members continue to hone their animal handling skills through monthly training sessions and participation in County organized disaster drills. ACART also cooperates in joint exercises with neighboring counties and performs education outreach to educate the public on preparation for evacuation.
